edna and me, workshops 2008

Now is the time to register for edna and me workshops planned for the next few months across Australia.

Presented by a team of people, edna's hands-on workshops provide training in the use of online services and collaborative tools. Each one day mini conference will include guest speakers, hands-on sessions and presentations about technologies transforming education. edna workshops also provide opportunities for networking with the edna team and other education professionals.

In 2008, the theme for the edna workshops is edna and me. Participants will be challenged to consider their current digital learning footprint, what use they are making of web 2.0 tools, particularly social networking environments, and how edna can contribute to professional and student learning.

The programme is in place for one day workshops in each state and registrations are now open. There is a small charge to cover venue and catering, and places are limited.

Perth: 28 & 29 March;
Adelaide: 5 April;
Canberra: 11 April;
Brisbane 1&2 May;
Melbourne 22 May;
Hobart 21 July;
Sydney 29 July;
Darwin TBA.

MyGroups http://groups.edna.edu.au/my can be bookmarked to be your entry point into Groups.
MyGroups shows the logged in user all the Groups that he/she belongs to.

The page can also be edited so that it includes other blocks such as

a calendar to which personal events can be added
the edna Blogs menu to give easy access to your own blog, and also enables you to see the blogs of others
RSS feeds that you wish to monitor
Latest News etc.

edna's training space

edna's training space at the easy to remember URL of http://groups.edna.edu.au/training allows users to trial activities, resources and blocks for use in Groups.

Also available there are manuals for users and owners which give detailed descriptions of how each activity or modules works, and instructions on how to set them up.

edna has released a new and exciting service for educators in beta format me.edu.au

The new system provides an online professional network where educators can identify their professional interests, join communities with similar interests, and view and respond to the activities of their online colleagues. It incorporates features of social networking sites to build professional communities. With further releases in the first half of 2008, me.edu.au will become an extensive personal network and resource.

edna groups is built on Moodle 1.6.5

It has been customised to provide free community spaces for the Australian education and training sector
